Holy Cross, Farmington Hills — Tech Ministry Leader
Volunteer Work
NOVEMBER 2021 - PRESENT
I set up live streaming for my church for eight hours over two weeks. I helped choose hardware and set up cameras, cabling, audio, and software. Now our liturgies are more accessible via YouTube live streams. I am responsible for maintaining and running this live stream every Sunday. This project has led to the creation of The Holy Cross Tech Ministry. We help with any implementation of technology into church services, Sunday school, or church-related gatherings/events. My founding and leadership position in this ministry has improved my communication and leadership skills. I also gained experience understanding and exceeding the requirements listed by church board members. This is important when understanding, for example, what a client may want to see in a final product.

Youth Meals, Northville — Lead Automated Systems Architect and Web App Developer
MAY 2020 - JULY 2020
After the founding of NNMasks, we also volunteered to create YouthMeals. This organization donated meals to children. I created a similar PWA (or progressive web app) and automated payment system, this time displaying the number of meals donated from funding.

Northville-Novi Masks, Northville — Lead Automated Systems Architect and Web App Developer
 APRIL 2020 - JUNE 2020
In 2020, I joined a charitable organization called NNMasks, which distributed masks and other supplies to help places, such as nursing homes and religious centers, by providing adequate resources to stay safe from Covid. This organization was especially important during the shortage of masks. NNMasks was funded through donations, and I volunteered to build them a web app. This web app allowed donations through the Stripe payments API with ease. The web app automatically updated a display showing donators' names (or optionally "Anonymous") beside their donation amount. It would also send them a "Thank You" email. The web app would also display the total funds raised and the number of masks available to distribute as a result. I really enjoyed building this progressive web app and the automated system.

CHARACTER STATEMENT
Steven Covey says to "Begin with the end in mind" in his bestselling book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. At the end of my life, I want to be remembered for my impact, compassion, and generosity. I grew up in a family and church that emphasizes proactive approaches to challenges we face in life. That starts with a foundation of defining our core values. I make decisions based on my core values of compassion, creativity, courage, gratitude, and perseverance. I want to continue to learn so that I can make a difference in people's lives through innovation. I find my motivation in the pursuit of a worthwhile cause. I know that my desire to help others will help me persevere through the challenges that I may face.

LEADERSHIP STATEMENT
I define leadership as inspiring a group of people to achieve a shared vision. A leader must listen as much as they speak so that they may understand the motivations and goals of others. Understanding how to engage others, resolve conflicts, and define goals is paramount to this responsibility. As a computer science teacher, I demonstrate these qualities for several hours weekly. My vision is for my students to acquire basic computer science skills, regardless of their future plans. My mission is to increase accessibility and participation in computer science for everyone. Despite the excitement of computer science, fully engaging my students presents a challenge. I have also successfully navigated classroom conflicts and kept everyone on track. Despite these challenges, my students graduate with a firm grasp and intense passion for computer science. Leading them to this milestone is one of my greatest achievements.
